April 2015

After a manic start to the year and a number of months of inactivity, the weather is warming up, vegetables and plants are starting to poke their heads above the soil on the allotment and in the garden and the fruit trees are starting to flower and grow new shoots. I am now looking to start filling the kitchen with heady scents of caramelizing onions, oranges and lemons and spices again. I have this past weekend now successfully created a g’n’t corner on the allotment and so will be spending my future Fridays making preserve creations and planting on the plot. Our kitchen is absolutely groaning under the weight of all the home-made booze I have made over the past year including Damson Vodka, White Grape Wine, Sloe Wine, Sloe Gin, Damson Gin and Orange Gin. It is going to be a Summer to remember……..just need some beautiful Summer evenings now to sit outside in the garden and put the world to rights with friends over a bottle or two.
