Somehow, somewhere, things skipped a generation with me……….
My late grandfather, Donald Mackintosh Mylne, was a great, great gardener and whilst I never took that much interest in his roses and lawn edging at the age of 13, never knew for a second that later in my life, this would be a great passion for me too….
Then there was my late grandmother, Marjorie Joan Mylne. Every Christmas she would bring out old, dusty bottles of homemade amber and honey-coloured country wines with faded labels dated 1960-something, not to mention the old larder full of jars and bottles of homemade jams. I was more interested in playing with her pet pugs at the time. Little did I know that, years later, her presence would touch me again and I would develop a passion for all things jammy….and so here we are !
But what of me, I hear you ask….OK – you didn’t ask but I’ll tell you anyway…
I’m the wrong side of 50 and by day, a proud public servant. By weekend and evening – a master of the marmalade, chief chutney-maker and jam-juggler.
Why did I think about setting up this website ?
Hmmm – well some of you may have already tasted my creations and thus I would be very interested in knowing what you thought……..good or bad and any tips or hints would be equally welcome !
